Doubleday, one of the most famous names in American publishing, was launched in the UK in 1989. It launched with bestseller and winner of the inaugural William Hill Sports Book, True Blue, by Daniel Topolski and Patrick Robinson and followed this with A Vision of Britain by H.R.H the Prince of Wales, which was also a bestseller that year. 

Doubleday has developed into a literary and commercial success, with a raft of award-winners and bestsellers.  Kate Atkinson’s first novel, Behind the Scenes at the Museum, won the 1995 Whitbread Book of the Year and Bill Bryson’s A Short History of Nearly Everything won the Aventis Prize for Science in 2004.
